a giant gem in tiny ripley The cosiest and full of character cafe I have ever been in England. Excellent, friendly and superb service enhanced with all around consistent tasty and fresh menu. I have been coming here since it opened and their paninis and cakes are as mouth-watering as they were on Day One.

eat your heart out starbucks I've been twice now and can say that it's some of the best coffee I've ever had. I had a flat white on my last visit which is almost always done appallingly but, buoyed up by two excellent lattes previously, I thought I'd take a punt: it was delicious, one of only two I've ever had that have been that good.  The staff are lovely and friendly - especially the owner Deborah who babysat - and charmed - my fiance whilst I was visiting the fabulous Miss Bush opposite.
